About Meg

Meg Glacier Lake Hike.jpg

Hi, I'm Meg

I'm an Outdoor Council of Canada Certified Hiking Field Leader. I've always loved the outdoors and have fond memories of being a kid sitting around a campfire, roasting (burning) marshmallows and watching the light of the flames flicker and dance against the forest. I became a serious hiker when I moved to Calgary in 2017 and have had many crazy and wonderful experiences since then!

I love teaching new hikers and being immersed in nature. I am passionate about protecting the environment, and learning new things about it!

Meg's Certifications:

  • 40 Hour Wilderness First Aid (Rocky Mountain Adventure Medicine)

  • Core Survival Skills (Boreal Wilderness Institute)

  • Jasper-Basic Knowledge Certificate (Interpretive Guide Association of Alberta)

  • Bear & Wildlife Safety Training (Bear Safety and More)

  • Product Knowledge Training (Breathe Outdoors staff training)

Values

Have fun. Be Safe. Play Responsibly.

Provide a welcoming and safe community while sharing insightful, trustworthy information. Having fun is just as important as feeling safe, and I work hard to follow these principles.

We also have access to some of the most beautiful places on earth. Since we're fortunate enough to have these places for our enjoyment, it's up to us to ensure that these places stay beautiful. I strive to promote conservation and environmental education through a fun, interactive way!

When I'm not outside, I like to play video games, read, create art, cuddle animals, and write!
