September Newsletter: Season of Change
Hello Intrepid Adventurers!

Does anyone else feel like the summer just flew by?! I can’t believe how quickly the time passed. I don’t know about you, but I’ve been working hard to get out and enjoy the nice weather while I can.
I'm not quite ready for Autumn, though I do love all the colors and the feel of the seasonal change...
The crisp air, chilly with a slight kiss of frost. The trees with leaves of amber and ruby hues dangling from their branches, and dampened dirt hiking trails that muffle each step with a soft thump.
We feel the days drawing in, but still enjoy bursts of warmth and light.
Somehow, even though the trees and animals are getting ready for a long sleep, it feels like a time of new beginnings and changes…
Maybe that’s because the school year starts during this time.
On the topic of school, I’m starting up again for the second year of my communications degree. There'll be a ton of video classes, so I’m eager to start putting those into practice and sharing adventures with you in new ways!
What’s Going on With TAHWM?
Posts and Content
Because of school, creating new content for the website and the socials will be a bit tricky, but you'll still get your outdoorsy fix!

I'll still post my longer pieces, such as the Parks Series and beginner friendly tips.
However, there'll be emphasis on content such as videos, shorter written pieces, and other short n sweet things.
I'll also be including some gear spotlights that'll be newsletter exclusive as well, so keep an eye out for those!
Art Prints
I have art prints! I'm struggling to get them posted on the website in a way that's user friendly, so please bear with me if you've been waiting for them.
For now, you can check them out here! All prints are 8.5"x11", printed on premium archival paper, and priced at $25.
If you're interested in buying a print, please email me at hike.w.meg@gmail.com
Thank you for your support!
What Else is New?
To kick off the season of change, I made a new goal for myself! I'm making a pledge to drive my car only when absolutely necessary in an effort to reduce my carbon footprint. That means more walking, taking public transit if needed, and.... Cycling!
Yes, I went and got myself a bike and I plan to do more bike commuting. Some fun riding as well! (Take a Bike with Meg?)
Special shout out to Cranky's Bikeshop in Edmonton, and Bike Edmonton. These people really know their stuff and I had a fantastic customer experience at both locations! (No affiliation, I just like to support solid businesses with solid experts)
It's exciting to be a beginner in a new sport again, but also a little scary! Especially as I'll try to be brave and start biking in the winter. Though maybe I'll stick to cycling in the city...

I don't think I'll ever be someone who flies down narrow mountain trails (or through grizzly country!) but if some of you are experienced cyclists, I'd still love to hear your words of wisdom!
What changes have you made lately, or want to make? What did you do to make those changes? What obstacles are you facing?
Please check back next week, on September 8th for my post, Layering for a Hike: The Lasagna of the Hiking World! As always, thanks for reading and happy trails!
~ Meg
